only slightly affected by the downturns in the economy. When the economy is flat, consumers turn to entertainment for a low-cost mechanism of relaxation. On the other hand, in an upturn of the economy, consumers spend even more on avenues of entertainment that they always enjoyed. New opportunities are quickly arising in the wireless gaming and entertainment space. Certainly a factor in the development of these games is the migration of wireless networks. It’s quickly becoming apparent that 3G (third-generation) wireless networks are advancing upon us quickly.

By the end of 2004, most large telecommunications carriers will have the bulk of 3G networks implemented. One of the advances in the wireless gaming experience that is brought on by 3G networks is streaming video and music. With increased bandwidth, entertainment seekers will have the opportunity to play online video games with the same speed and crispness as a standard desktop broadband connection. Additionally, as mobile devices are transformed to accommodate the new bandwidth, a whole new market for wireless gaming will be established.
