  • Have you identified organizations that you would potentially partner with in your mobile commerce endeavor?
  • How will you measure the success of your mobile application implementation?
  • Do you have a marketing strategy and communication plan?
  • Do you have a release plan?
  • How will you support your mCommerce site?

Figure 2.3 illustrates additional questions that companies should address around mobile commerce offerings.

Many of these questions are not unique to mobility. You’ll find that you may have asked yourself these types of questions with any significant system implementation. It is, however, very easy to forget the basics and make the rush to the bleeding edge. The drawbacks to a rushed approach to implementation are failed implementations, a lack of business direction, a lack of usability, customer confusion, and ultimately failure—dropping mobility altogether. This section discusses the various business drivers of mobility in any organization as well as uncovers real applications that can help you get started with mobility in your place of business.

Cost Efficiencies
One of the questions you should ask yourself is, “How will you measure success of your mobile application implementation”? This section takes a stab at answering that question through examples of the potential cost savings that you might expect to achieve through various mobile applications. It also reviews sample cost-benefit analyses that were performed as part of specific CGE&Y mobility case studies.
