For the hiker, sailor, or urban street warrior, there areGPS modules that can be added to your handheld PDA and thus render ita navigational aid, promising that you’ll never get lost again. Anotherimportant group of companies in this category includes the manufacturersof wireless modems in the form of expansion packs or modem cards thatallow the device to access data via the Internet. Without these cards, thehandheld device lacks the connectivity to the Net—connectivity withoutwhich the PDA loses much of its appeal for the mobile user. Last, there area slew of companies supplying battery packs, memory cards, carryingcases, belt clips, styluses, automobile adapters, synchronization cradles,and other gadgets that add to the usability of the device.
