Let’s begin. As proposed, the groups of entities within the content creators category include those that manufacture content for communication, entertainment, education, and commercial purposes disseminated via mobile/wireless devices. Content for each purpose is available from major carriers, entertainment companies and a plethora of small, entrepreneurial enterprises. Content includes text, music, video, downloadable ring-tones, and animated icons that appear on cell-phone’s screen created by a bevy of artists. Other originators of content are companies that gather data and transform data into information, for example, in the form of reports about the latest weather or road conditions. Content is offered to the customer directly from the source or via the wireless carrier that the end-user is subscribing to. If accessed directly, the content is made available for downloading, via snap-on modules, or in real-time over wireless networks. If procured from the carrier, the content is usually accessed via the carrier’s wireless portal.

Another group of content creators that needs to be mentioned are merchants who make their products or services available via wireless networks. Such merchants range from retailers of branded apparel, consumer electronics, travel, hospitality, and entertainment products all the way to restaurants or financial services institutions, including brokerages, insurance companies, and banking services. The list is seemingly endless. Think of the many brands that are selling directly via the Internet. Even though we are still a long way from recreating on the PDA or cell phone the rich Web experience we are used to when sitting behind a PC, all the content available to us on the Net will eventually make its way to the handheld gadget.
